Atlas Lens Co pt 2

The Overview that School wants you to type up for your internship experience Pt 5

(oh lord why do I do this to myself…)

This internship has been truly a wonderful experience, I will take with me for the rest of my professional and I would argue, how I approach my personal life. I learned so much of what makes a successful company run, and what I need to focus on moving forward in my career.

I was a marketing intern, so I mostly worked with the marketing team, planning, creating, implementing and editing various works for social media. I also discussed and planned various marketing and promotional ideas with my coworkers within sales and marketing meetings.

It was all so helpful for my future work, and how I go about implementing everything, and showed me that there are so many avenues of filmmaking to go down!

The one thing I will definitely take from this experience is the balance of hard work and play. Everyone who works at Atlas is truly an awesome person, and most folks appear to naturally understand this idea, of work hard play hard. There were many times where we were allowed to be creative, and see what happens. Then decide how this can implement within the companies overall vision, which is “the world of cinematography in your hands” meaning, Atlas wants to encourage everyone to create, no matter what sort of tools, time, people or budget you may have.

I need to create more, and that is my plan. That is always the plan, but my experience at Atlas has amplified it!

All in all, I am extremely grateful to have worked at this lovely company, and I do hope to come back!

Photos!

Shoutout Brenden for taking some of the photos! 🙂

Starring, Ha – Joon (virtual Production Wall) , Not your Daddy’s Films, Nathan Gold (matching shirt) , Justin Demilio (goofy photo from a telecast set up) and the crew of the in house Porsche Shoot with Tilta, at the Trona Pinnacles!

extra! extra! extra! (read all about it if you want I guess, I should make videos not write a blog, silly filmmaker…)

Old Anamorphic Lenses!

Dan Kanes, CEO and Product Manager of Atlas Lens Co, has a gallery of vintage lenses. In that gallery is an old Bausch and Lomb anamorphic 100mm lens. Which was originated in Rochester New York. It was really neat to see all the old glass that paved the way for the cinematic look you see on the films that you watch!

Old Anamorphic Bausch n Lomb glass example!

The lens that captured the photo, and Dan Kanes showing off some of his glass collection!

This super cinemascope lens is incredibly heavy.
